Having topped the division 8 group, the Kestrels faced a tricky away semi-final v Blaby & Whetstone who had already beaten them Three times during the season including earlier in the group match.
It was predictably hard fought and tense with nothing to separate the teams during the first half with Gamble & Willcocks impressive at the back and Hirst a constant threat on the left linking up well with Robinson.
With Knight & Cowan looking solid in the centre of the pitch and the hard working Stone closing down the opposition, it soon sparked life into the Kestrels who had looked somewhat nervous and lacked any intensity to their game, but mid-way through the second half good work again by substitute Bell produced a corner for the visitors and Masters scuffed effort somehow found its way into the bottom corner of the goal direct from the corner.
Confidence was high and soon after Plant bravely followed-up from close range to strengthen their position. Blaby & Whetstone never gave up and were unlucky not to score late on with Bootheway impressive in goal during the second half. As the clocked ticked down, Chamberlain missed a break-away opportunity to seal a fine performance. This didn't matter as the Kestrels recorded their Third straight win to set-up an exciting encounter with Anstey Nomads 47's in the division 8 cup final. Well done boys!
