On a wet and windy Birds Barn, the Kestrels came from behind in an entertaining encounter with Blaby & Whetstone.
The visitors started brightly and Willcocks & Kainth were forced to defend well to keep the scores level early on but then the Kestrels settled with Stone & Bootheway linking well to create openings for Prescod & Robinson, but the sides entered half-time level at 0-0.
To their credit both teams tried to play neat football in terrible conditions but it was the visitors who went ahead midway through the second half after Knight fouled the opposition striker when clean through on goal. Justice was served when Blaby & Whetstone scored from the resultant free-kick.
Forced to chase the game, the hosts soon levelled after quick thinking from Hirst with a short corner allowed Masters to fire high into the roof of the net with his left foot. The winner came 5 minutes from time when Chamberlain riffled low into the corner from the edge of the box after good work from the impressive Cowan.
The visitors pushed for an equaliser but the Kestrels held firm to advance in the cup after a dismal run of the form in the league.
