The first away game saw the Hawks travel to Kegworth in the deepest darkest North, a 10.30 kick off meant an early set up for the squad, this week their was no un-expected mishaps with venues or meet times and a good number of the squad were early......... (You know who you are)
The boys looked sharp in the pre-match warm up and the team was set up to play 3-4-1 formation, the Hawks struggled to contain the opposition forwards and the midfield started to drop deeper and deeper to help out the defense. Kegworth got the early break from the penalty spot, then they quickly doubled their lead from a long range free kick which the Kibworth keeper could do nothing about as it looped over his head into the net. As per last week the Kibworth heads never went down and they fought their way back in to the match with a good team goal, with spirits lifted The Hawks started to push forward and enjoyed a good deal of possession but went in at half time trailing by 2 goals (Some people blame the linesman for not using his flag). A stern talking to from Messrs Molby & Quinn at half time saw a change of formation to a 4-3-1, this seemed like a master stroke as The Hawks dominated the 2nd half but unfortunately were susceptible to the counter attack and fell further behind to a runaway goal. Kibworth managed to score again and also had a goal ruled out by the referee for an infringement on the edge of the penalty area. Another loss for the Hawks but spirits are still high within the camp and plenty to work on in training.
