The first game of the season saw Kibworth Town Hawks host Sileby at Birds Barn on a lovely Sunday morning, the pitch was in great condition and a hard preseason had been drilled in to the squad by coaches Jan Molby & Micky Quinn, the boys looked in great shape to take on the challenge. An early set back before kick off saw one of the Kibworth players arrive at the oppositions ground meaning an un-expected change to the team sheet.
Kibworth started slowly and didn't really settle straight away and gave away a sloppy early goal, the team lifted their heads and settled their nerves and started to move the ball around with slick precision. Kibworth dominated possession but failed to capitalize on their greater possession in the final 3rd. The game could of gone either way but saw Kibworth lose by a 2 goal margin. The team may of suffered an early set back but there were plenty of positives to take from the game, most noticeable was the work ethic, spirit and passing football.
